Colonized by Phoenicians and Greeks around the 7th century B.C., the region was eventually conquered by Rome, which turned the entire coast into its breadbasket. A million tons of grain each year, cultivated in Africa, were shipped to Rome?s hungry armies; exotic African animals found their way to Rome?s Coliseum; and, at the behest of the Severan emperors, powerful cities rose to rival Rome itself in scope, scale, and lavishness.

We travel trails used by Indians for hundreds of years, hiking through wild canyons to secluded waterfalls and spring fed pools where we swim among incredible rock formations.

Black Feather

This kayak expedition is an other-worldly experience in a place of astounding beauty. The interlocking Ammassalik fjords of East Greenland resemble a flooded alpine valley system. In deep fjords surrounded by high snow capped mountains with tidewater glaciers, our small kayaks will wind through a maze of evermoving icebergs. In the distance the vast Greenland Icesheet overhangs even the steepest peaks. In many places we can hike up into the mountains to enjoy another view of the land and sea. In sheltered coves and on picturesque points well camp on small flat areas of green arctic tundra - the same places the Dorset and Thule people lived.

Bom Bom Island Resort

Bom Bom is a tiny islet off the north coast of Príncipe and provides the perfect base from which to discover this magical island. The small resort found there extends across two gentle beaches and nestles between lush rainforest-covered hills. In Bom Bom you will find a haven, shelter and a restaurant where you can enjoy magnificent views of Principe and the ocean.

As regards its geography, the Buzios region is a volcanic peninsula of 8 km long where hills ?morros? plunge into the sea to form cliffs, caves and small beaches. Surrounding Buzios, there is a great amount of small rocky islands, quite attractive to practice scuba diving or snorkeling.
There are a few long and vast beaches in Buzios, Gerib?, Jo?o Fernandes and Ferradura are the best ones. For nature lovers, there is a great amount of secluded small beaches without any infrastructure, where it is peaceful and quiet during the high season.

Fethiye

Fethiye is located on the Lycian and Carian border and was called Telmessos in ancient times. The city was very prominent and a centre of prophecy, pledged to Apollon. That the city life was rich and highly cultured during the Hellenistic and Roman periods is evident from the existing monuments. Today the majority of ancient ruins in Telmessos are rock-tombs, Lycian-type sarcophagi, the fortress and the Roman Theatre.
The peninsula lying between Fethiye and Antalya was known as Lycia in the ancient times. Lycians were natives of Anatolia and sea-faring people as mentioned in Homer?s Iliad and Kadesh War Peace Agreement document.
