The rural descendents of this people have remained virtually untouched, and numerous archaeological remains will give the traveler an opportunity to gain insight into the cultural achievement of a glorious past. Ceremonial remains, and even mummies found in the top of snow-capped peaks, recognizes Peruvians as the oldest climbers recorded in the history of mountaineering.

It was built in the sixties, as a point of refuge and refueling half way between R?o Grande and Ushuaia, on National Route N? 3, and is very attractive for tourists due to its wonderful sights, trekking trails and salmon fishing.
Closed for several years, Kaik?n was totally renewed and now offers its comfortable and updated services, while it maintains its character of being the most beautiful and traditional place in the heart of Tierra del Fuego.
This ?heart of the island? was where the Shelk?nam natives found refuge during the winter, living in the forests and seeking food and clothing from herds of ?guanacos? which still today inhabit in the area.

Kamchatka Tracks
We trek in the area of Klyuchevskaya group of volcanoes. The scenery is very spectacular with the superb view of Klyuchevskoy volcano, the highst active in Europe and Asia (4750 m) and with the variety of lunar landscapes, high passes, canyons, craters and volcanoes encountered on the route. We ascend 3 of 9 volcanoes in the Kyuchevskaya area. This is Bezymyanny, Zimina and Tolbachik volcanoes. Keep your eyes open for some of the rare species of wildlife, including brown bear, fox, ground squirrels, and plants that can grow on lifeless volcanic stones and ash.
