Kurdistan – ” The Other Iraq” has been safe for years, other than sporadic ,targeted attacks. Even in Saddam’s times Kurdistan was safe after 1991, since the airspace was under Allied control. There are thrice weekly flights from Frankfurt to Erbil. Pleas let us know about any providers or destinations in Kurdistan or any other part of Iraq, as the ground situation appears to improve daily.

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007Austrian Airways now has four flights a week from Vienna to Erbil,Kurdish Iraq. In the late Saddam era this area was known as the Northern No-Fly Zone and hence developed peacefully and independently from the rest of Iraq. There are many archeological wonders in this Alpine setting where Alexander the Great defeated King Darius of Persia.
