After Namibia , ArcticTropic had less than a week to explore the vast territory of South Africa. 3 days in Cape Town was plenty, but the 1000 mile,1600 km journey back to Johannesburg via the Wynlands,the Great Karoo and the South Coast was quite a feat, meaning many hours in the car.
A Saturday afternoon journey from Muizenberg to Fish Hoek near where the Atlantic meets the Indian Ocean. A preacher man works the aisle. The train is much like the NYC subway, but with better scenery. Cost is 6 Rand or 60 cents US.
In 2013 ArcticTropic swam in three of the five oceans – Atlantic,Pacific and Indian. They will all be immersed in again before mid ’14. The Arctic and Southern Oceans are more of a challenge to get to and to swim in , but we will get to both soon.
Long Beach at Kommetjie is just south of Hout’s Bay – that often has the biggest surf in the world – 25 meters in the winter. On this day it was tranquil, with only 1 to 2 meters. While the water looks tropical – it is not, only about 15 C ( 59 F ). Lots more edited footage to follow.
Coming down 1050m ( 4000 ft) Table Mountain in Cape Town on a beautiful spring morning n November,2013. Cape Town had just exited a long cold winter that saw snow on top of the mountain for the first time in many years Edited footage will soon be available.

During the first week of November, ArcticTropic took a road trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg,South Africa. . Here is some unedited footage in the mountains about 150 Km North of Cape Town. Huge quantities of wine grapes are produced in the region.
Today ArcticTropic returns to the United States aboard Lufthansa via Frankfurt. Total trip time 25:30 with five hours in Frankfurt. Double – Decker A 380s all the way.
Yesterday ArcticTropic drove through Addo National Park in Eastern Cape, South Africa. Addo permits self touring by car, though one must never leave the car. The video gets a little shaky at the end as a young male was getting ready to block my tiny little rental car, so it was time for a quick exit. This video took over three hours to upload, but there will be may more upon return to the USA and fast connections.
